On truth verification in religion

This is an interesting thought in Barth. Any visible sign of repentance, revelation, charity and "good will" are ultimately only the symptoms of the truth contained in the religion.
The truth itself depends solely on God's revelation (and, by deductive reasoning, on Jesus).

Now, this is an interesting thought and very multifaceted. I am wondering.... it means that Barth was very much convinced of the "ultimate visibility" of God's revelation....it means that us "testifying to the truth" should never be mixed up with the truth itself....it takes pressure off testimonies as they are ultimately only "symptoms" of truth...it is a sign of the high, high view of God and Jesus that Barth expresses throughout his writings...

In any case. It was interesting to see that next to the final part of John 5 (vv. 31ff) which was a daily reading in the lectionary just yesterday.
